On Tuesday afternoon, Washington Post reporters Daniel Altschuler and Javier Corrales outlined the real reasons for the readily apparent chaos emanating from the White House…
Here are a few of my favorites:
The White House’s internal chaos is a reflection of our democracy’s resilience.
Let’s hope.
Engaged civil society, a robust news media and a largely unified opposition party — all elements of a strong democracy — are creating a pressure cooker at the White House.
Time to turn up the heat, no?
First, civil society is kicking in. Since Trump’s inauguration, the administration has felt the weight of popular resistance.
RESIST. PERSIST. PREVAIL.
Then there is the role of a free press — and particularly investigative journalism. Good reporting is cornering the White House.
Now, if we can just get someone to soap his damned mouth out…
Finally, the opposition party is united in the legislature, effectively blocking the president’s legislative agenda.
Remember, it’s always about basic blocking and tackling.
If anything, it is the president’s party … that is having trouble holding itself together.
Yup. Looks like the rats, er,uh, I mean Republicans, are starting to abandon ship!
This is a sign of the resilience of our democratic institutions and values.
I’m a big fan of anti-fragility myself.
As in other democracies, the instability … will likely undermine … chances of enacting [a Trump] agenda, while further emboldening … opposition and civil society.
Let’s hope.
