Vive la France!

The Washington Post published a great article outlining the opposing forces facing those who chose to head to the polls in France today, basically asking will French voters endorse the pursuit of an isolationist, nationalistic agenda, (Trump in the U.S. and May in the U.K.), or will French voters endorse the pursuit of a pro-immigration, centrist/globalist agenda, (Merkel in Germany)?

OK, OK, no more suspense – Macron won by a hefty margin, securing approximately two-thirds of the vote thus far. The article goes on to say:

After a pair of dramatic triumphs for the populist right in 2016 – with Brexit in the U.K., and Donald Trump in the U.S. – France’s vote was viewed as a test of whether the political mainstream could beat back a rising tide.

Well, as far as I’m concerned, today the French passed their test, while the British and the Americans failed theirs.
