I’ve been seeing the notation president* for a couple of weeks now and thought I’d just go ahead and incorporate it into my repertoire sooner than later.

Apparently, amongst the digerati, adding our friend the asterisk after a term implies “fake”, or, alternatively, “not really”. Really.

…and because I’m an old UNIX programmer, I thought what the heck, let’s go ahead and add the NOT operator to the mix. Yup, our friend the exclamation point means NOT.

Presto, bingo, bango, we’ve got ourselves a nice, succinct way to say either “NOT president” or “fake president” any time the spirit moves us:

!president …NOT [my] president

president* [a] fake president
