Immigrant Song

Immigrant Song was released on November 5th, 1970 in the United States.

46 years and 3 days later, the rather ill-informed citizens of said country decided to elect the singularly most unqualified human being ever – and I do mean ever – to the office of President of the United States.

Precisely seven days after his sparsely-attended inauguration – but that’s a different story – this complete idiot signed an executive order banning immigrants from seven predominantly Muslim countries, including Syria and Iraq, from entering the United States. On Saturday night, (quoting a New York Times article written by Michael D. Shear, Nicholas Kulish and Alan Feuer):

Judge Ann M. Donnelly of Federal District Court in Brooklyn, who was nominated by former President Barack Obama, ruled just before 9 p.m. that implementing Mr. Trump’s order by sending the travelers home could cause them “irreparable harm.” She said the government was “enjoined and restrained from, in any manner and by any means, removing individuals” who had arrived in the United States with valid visas or refugee status.

Hey, they don’t call ’em “checks and balances” for nothin’, now do they?

Minutes after the judge’s ruling in New York City, another judge, Leonie M. Brinkema in Federal District Court in Virginia, issued a temporary restraining order for a week to block the removal of any green card holders being detained at Dulles International Airport.

Let’s hope this trend continues – that federal judges evaluating cases being brought before them quickly realize how ridiculous, (and unconstitutional), an executive order of this type really is, and immediately issue restraining orders countermanding Trump’s feverish efforts to insulate the United States from phantom threats countless like-minded dolts want to attribute to innocents wishing to enter our country in an entirely legal fashion.

Shame on you, Mr. Trump, shame on you!
